Manager - Quality & Technical Sales - Lafarge - Markham


Job description
Position Summary:
This role has dual responsibility for effective management of Quality Control, Quality Processes and Value Added Sales for the GTA Market Area. Provide leadership to QC Tech and Tech Sales Reps to maximize One Lafarge product sales and profitability ensuring effective product performance, technical compliance and customer satisfaction.
With respect to the VAP sales group he/she will be responsible for driving forward branded initiatives and integrating upselling into the Quality Control function. The management of VAP sales will include developing and implementing commercial strategies for our branded product initiatives.



Key Responsibilities:
Safety:
Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to Lafarge safety policies in all work environments.
Ensure all aspects of his/her role are executed in a safe manner.
Reinforce safety guidelines with employees; ensuring completion of risk assessments/ hazard analysis for QC job functions.

Leadership:
Provides leadership, coaching, and development opportunities to stretch and challenge staff to deliver results (revenue, VAP targets etc.) & strengthen customer relationships
Daily management of the Technical Sales & Quality group.
Prepare annual performance reviews and personal development plans.
Coordinate training and development of all staff.

Quality Control:
Ensure designated plant compliance with Ready Mix Quality Program
Submission of Mix Design documentation requested by customers in accordance with Lafarge policy
Review of all project specifications; recommendations of appropriate mix designs and proposals of VAP alternatives in support of marketing / sales initiatives
Provide technical support to sales, operations and customers
Liaison with Operations and Sales on day to day requirements
Participates actively in trade associations as required

Customer Focus and Value Added:
Promotes Lafarge products to customers to maximize unit profitability and resolves customer product issues.
Increase the overall VAP selling capability of the Sales & Quality teams
Provides technical service to enhance the One Lafarge product offering
Solid understanding of customer needs and operations leveraging Performance Innovations, Value Added, etc delivering customer solutions
Provides Technical promotion with architects, engineers and specifying agencies
Participate in daily CFOM conference calls as required
Site representation for pre-construction, pre-pour and weekly review meetings as needed

Planning:
Determines quality performance plan on a yearly basis and ensures goals are met on a monthly basis through inventory requirements and accurate forecasting ensuring alignment with overall market performance targets (volume, price, gross profit).
Provides information to develop monthly and yearly budgets
Resolve and support Quality Incident and Cost of Quality reporting

Relationships with Others’ Jobs
Interaction with Materials Performance Manager, QC Director, Marketing Director, VAP Reps, etc.

Technically proficient in concrete products, cement, cementitious, aggregates, etc.

Qualification Profile:
College Diploma or University Degree in Engineering / Business
Industry experience considered an asset
