Job description
The Ottawa Airport Authority is seeking applications for a Director Security and Emergency Management.
Reporting to the President and CEO, the successful candidate will provide leadership and direct the development, implementation and evaluation of the Airport Authority’s corporate and physical security programs, including emergency response services, the canine unit, emergency preparedness, and business continuity.

The successful candidate must demonstrate an ability to effectively lead cross-functional teams and strong customer service and service delivery orientation as well as skills in motivating and inspiring others and adapting his/her own leadership style to a variety of situations. He/she will have exceptional analytical, negotiating and decision making skills as well as highly developed communication and strategic influencing skills when interacting with internal partners and other stakeholders, including senior management.
The successful candidate will maintain key relationships with external first responders and other support groups including OPS, OFS, EMS, RCMP, etc. He/she will be able to plan and organize, set priorities, develop schedules and milestones and formulate and evaluate plans. The successful candidate will be resourceful and thorough, be able to work under pressure, and be able to identify problems and recommend solutions. He/she must be able to take initiative and achieve results, be a self-starter, be able to work independently and or with a wide range of differing managerial co-workers. The successful candidate will demonstrate change and project management skills as well as the ability to work on tight deadlines. He/she will demonstrate initiative and willingness to accept increased responsibility and be able to adapt to changes in the external environment and organization. The successful candidate will be on 24 hour call to respond to emergencies or incidents and operating on unusual, unpredictable and extended hours during exercises and emergencies, and on a rotational basis while representing management as senior manager on duty. He/she will be willing to travel as necessary to company and industry events, domestically and internationally. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to express ideas and facts in a clear and understandable manner, tailoring communications to the intended audience. These abilities, as well as exceptional interpersonal skills, a high motivation, tactfulness, discretion, collaborative nature, professionalism, and competitive drive for results will ensure success in building positive working relationships in a team environment.

Qualifications for this position include:
Post-secondary education in airport operations, policing, security management and/or extensive job related experience;
Demonstrated management level experience in public service or private sector security management;
Extensive experience in managing and conducting security operations including physical security, investigations, personal protection, crisis management conducting physical security audits to identify vulnerabilities and risks;
Demonstrated leadership experience;
Advanced experience with Microsoft Office software; and
Excellent and effective communication and written skills in English.
The following will be considered as assets:
Certified Protection Professional (CPP);
Physical Security Professional (PSP);
Knowledge of airport and air carrier operations; and
Bilingualism (English and French).
Candidates must be in possession of a valid driver’s licence (Class G or equivalent) along with a driver’s abstract (issued within the last month) and must successfully obtain a security clearance check for a Top Secret Level as well as an Airport Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC).
