Job description
The Role-

As Director of Product Architecture for the OpenVideo software platform, you will drive the technical solution planning for all projects and work will multiple software and IT engineering teams on delivery. With a strong product-focused engineering background you will make key technical contributions and provide leadership when interfacing with Product Management, Project Management and Operations. Together you will deliver new features and platform systems that evolve and scale our video delivery services. You will also interface with the Professional Services group to ensure our products are designed to meet the needs for customer implementations. Additionally, you will be responsible for shaping your team, providing mentorship and growing in a fast-paced and changing environment.

The role requires a leader who believes they can create an impact by applying innovation and ingenuity to our product that results in economies of scale with a reliable solution that operates at even lower costs.


Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

The Director of Enterprise Architecture (EA) is responsible for creating enterprise technology architecture and strategy to support QuickPlay’s business plans. The Director of EA participates in enterprise strategic IT planning and formulates technology architecture, patterns, standards, and services leveraging common technologies that span data, infrastructure and application domains. The architecture will cut across our software platforms, customer specific solutions as well as the Infrastructure and all areas associated with delivering managed services to our customers.

Expectations:
Assess new and emerging technologies to drive visionary business and architecture strategy
Provide consultation to promote, interpret, and apply strategy and architecture throughout the Enterprise
Formulate new shared services or utilities to be leveraged across Business Units.
Establish organization-level architectural road maps to set architecture direction and guide technology investments
Define, develop and communicate IT blueprints to guide the organization in solutions design and implementation
Define the architecture engagement model and architecture practice
Drive and or support key strategic initiatives across the organization
Define, develop and communicate the annual application portfolio management plan and track progress monthly to manage technical debt
Conduct proof of concept projects and evaluate fit for purpose of new tools and technologies

Desired Skills and Experience
10+ years in proven IT Leadership Roles of increasing responsibility
Solid industry experience with building large scale SaaS and PaaS platforms including Cloud Computing, Mobile Platforms, Big Data, Information Management, Collaboration and Virtualization
Extensive experience collaborating with solution and product architects infrastructure engineers to identify, design, and implement highly complex, end-to-end solutions.
Demonstrated thought leadership and technology management skills
Experience forming strategic partnerships with technology and business partners in a collaborative manner
Strong analytical, organizational, prioritization, and time management skills
Proven track record of establishing and successfully running an architecture group with deep knowledge of SOA, Application Life Cycle Management, Mobile, Data Architecture, IT Simplification, Design Patterns, and IT Governance
Excellent communications and consensus building skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Experienced in various software delivery methodologies (waterfall, Agile & continuous delivery)
Education:
Post-secondary degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent academic experience
