Director - Procurement - Rewards and Corporate - Aimia - Mississauga


Job description
The Director of Procurement is responsible for all procurement, buying operations and merchant reward vendor management activity for the Canadian Region.

Major Areas of Accountability:
Develop procurement processes and leverage systems to build out new regional department and manage corresponding change management within the region
Develop Annual Procurement plan outlining procurement projects, run independently within the department or in partnership with the business with a key focus on delivering against mandate to reduce cost, develop operational synergies or enhanced margins for the business
Lead a team of procurement professionals balancing directive management style, to drive new processes and common practices, while promoting independent initiative and abilities
Complete annual review of reward options to ensure optimum product offering in collaboration with the Rewards Services team. Create a matrix of categories and industry-influencing factors, such as brand identity, market trends, competitive activity, distribution options, vendor performance, price and quality, tohelp identify product development priorities and ongoing reward selection strategies
Responsible financial processes surrounding Vendor Management and Reward Sourcing

Ensure reward offerings are procured efficiently, to maximize sales and profitability and are aligned with Client objectives and corporate strategies
Develop reward refresh calendar and promotional merchandising schedule that streamlines operations activities, and maximizes sales opportunities with Vendors and Clients, based on alignment with Client marketing activities and overall seasonality
Evaluate supplier proposals, and negotiate prices, terms and service agreements with suppliers, ensuring most advantageous agreements and prices for the Company
Negotiate value-added agreements with suppliers for products to be featured throughout the year, such as advertising allowances, charity donations, up-sell offerings, etc.
Generate innovative and/or exclusive products and offerings for Client programs
Monitor supplier performance levels (price decreases, product quality, delivery levels, etc.) to ensure client SLA’s are maintained
Management of the AIMIA reward selections and Client program promotional activities - develop strategies to increase product sales
Support Vice President with the development and execution of Business Unit Roadmap and annual business plan
Support Key Account Management teams with new business opportunities
Maintain Internal and External Relationships:
Ensure that AIMIA has strong relationships with all vendor/suppliers
Direct and manage all Vendor agreements and associated relationship administration documentation
Negotiate favorable terms with vendors in support of inventory management &customer service objectives
Maintain a supportive relationship between Procurement team and other areas of the business
Active participant in industry associations and activities
Provide thought leadership and PR support on behalf of team
Manage Reward Product Selection:
Ensure product selections are on strategy for each client program and product specifications are complete
Source new suppliers and product recommendations that meet marketing and client requirements for reward programs and associate marketing activities (i.e.: inserts, on-line web catalogue specials, product substitutions, etc.)and ensure highest level of quality and service at optimum prices for the Company
Oversee Group Continuous Improvement Focus:
Continually evaluate product offering and processes to identify opportunities for improved quality and efficiency
Policies are adhered to and enhanced as appropriate
Facilitate Process Improvement initiatives as required

Team Support and Co-ordination:
Create and manage a strong internal and external client orientation within the buying function
Manage and support career development of the team
Conduct regular meetings with team to promote knowledge sharing and common practices
Provide traffic management support for team members for program development, including critical paths, status and activity updates
Provide indirect leadership to the IT procurement function to ensure common practices and processes

Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications and Education requirements:
10+ years of experience in Procurement and Vendor Management or similar experience, with a preferred focus on consumer products, marketing services or corporate goods and services
Strong working knowledge of all Buying, Procurement and Inventory Management processes, systems, concepts and policies
Strong product marketing and promotional merchandising skills
Understands and stays up to date on current market trends and buying strategy
Keen sense and awareness of industry trends, factors, conditions and competition
Solid financial acumen
Strong analytical skills
Proven relationship management skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong presentation skills
Knowledge of emerging Social Media and Digital trends
Proven experience in points-based motivation and loyalty programs
Experience with the development and execution of business plans and change management strategies
Excellent organizational skills - prioritizing, meeting deadlines
Strong coaching and leadership skills
Able to carry tasks through to completion while managing a buying team
Strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Client focused, strong sales acumen
Problem solver
Post secondary degree, Master’s degree an asset
Ability to travel out of town/country to attend Trade Shows/Industry Events and/or participate in Vendor, Client or Internal Meetings
Bilingual language skills are a valuable asset
