Director - Corporate Development & Market Intelligence - Moneris Solutions - Toronto
Job description
Position Mandate:
This is a senior level position responsible for researching market trends, and identifying, evaluating and participating in the execution of strategic investment opportunities for Moneris Solutions in its chosen markets.
Key Activities Include (but are not limited to):
- Developing detailed financial models and valuation scenarios for potential transactions
- Producing industry research to highlight growth opportunities within Moneris’ business verticals or expansion into new verticals.
- Creating investment conclusions, related presentations, and managing Board review process.
- Evaluating and prioritizing acquisition and alliance opportunities through analysis of market potential, customer needs, strategic fit, competitive landscape, and financial attractiveness; preparing and presenting compelling business cases as required, in collaboration with business units and functions.
- Interfacing with finance, legal and other departments to ensure seamless deal execution.
- Driving the competitive intelligence practice for the organization focusing on core markets; acting as the hub for Moneris Solutions in understanding pricing, product offerings and potential future plans of competitors.
- Actively participating and contributing thought leadership to departmental steering meetings.
- Demonstrating creativity and having strong heuristics around the Payments business.
- Managing a team of resources who build out business cases, reports, and track and conduct research, to fulfill this overarching mandate.
Desired Skills and Experience
Requirements:
- MBA (Finance) or CPA/CA or CFA required
- 10+ years of senior level financial analysis, financial modelling, and/or competitive intelligence experience, preferably within the technology industry
- Previous experience in assessing business opportunities, conducting due diligence, and structuring deals
- Strong business acumen including knowledge of investment banking/capital markets
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with experience in interacting with C-level executives
- Self-driven, capable of working independently and in a team setting
- Excellent networking, collaboration, and influencing skills
- Effective leadership skills, and previous people management experience
